Last weekend Chris flew in from Ottawa to spend some time here in Baltimore. I took him hiking at Old Rag and introduced him to the world of Maryland blue crabs. It was quite a bit of fun, mainly due to the nice change of pace for me to have a friend that wants to do something outdoors. All of my friends are slackers, and you know it.
Ultimately, what I have to show from his being here is a couple of beat up ankles, due to my trail-hiking shoes which just didn’t want to cooperate with me. They are bloody and scabbed, and not very pretty. On top of that, I can’t get my climbing shoes (or any other shoes) comfortably on, so I’m stuck not being able to do much in the way of physical activity. What a drab!
I had a really great time last weekend. It started off with Jason and I going for a run along the Inner Harbor which I think is the cause of his beat up ankles. Luckily, I had a roll of micropore tape handy. On Saturday, we had a really great hike up Old Rag. The panoramic view from the top of Old Rag was incredible. I would welcome any such future hike(s).
Later in the weekend, I experienced Maryland blue crab for the first time and haven’t seen so much Old Bay spice. I also learned the best way of eating crab over which there are many. I now like crabs. On Monday, I spent part of the day exploring the lifecycle of the Maryland blue crab over at the Maryland Science Center.
Just because we don’t like to do things with you doesn’t mean we’re slackers.
Normally I’d just email this kinda crap directly to Jason… but hey, if you’re reading this, you might be bored enough to enjoy it too.
