WordPress

I’ve got a secret. I installed and have been tweaking wordpress all weekend. The wonderful thing about wordpress is the copious amount of features it has.

I have not had the time to setup a theme. What you see here is the default theme. So far, I spent my time migrating all of my old comments — including comments once thought to have been lost forever on older posts in my homegrown system. I also spent some time giving some newer posts categories so things are easier to browse.

This will be good.

  • The new site is looking good. I hope that you can add some of the great features of the old site. I really liked the “new content” rss/email subscription feature. The comment followup email feature was neat. Looking forward to seeing how the site evolves.

I’m not sure that I like this format, J. I think the one thing that pushes it over the edge is that Jason Lancaster is really big at the top. I feel like it is the opening to your resume. Maybe when you find another format that you like, I will like it better.

  • The format is going to change because this is the default theme. My site looks just like 500 million others right now. I can’t have that!

Qq, Does WordPress have the facility to show the comments the way they were presented on the old site?

Jaimie said “I think the one thing that pushes it over the edge is that Jason Lancaster is really big at the top.”

She says this like it’s a bad thing. :-)

Still, it is a very ORDINARY looking default format — I’m sure you’ll do something classy and cool with this tool when you’ve had a chance to work with it a bit.

  • Jc, what does the big “?” mean in the comment field. The work in progress is looking good…

  • Passing along a possible website enhancement…When I mouse over the house icon it says “inicio” and when I mouse over the radiating brackets its says “sindicaci;on” I like the way the site is evolving.
