Jason,

I was searching the web sometime last week. I forget what exactly for but, I came across your Photo Albums. I always wondered if I'd ever find people who enjoyed dancing as much as they do the great outdoors and in similar ways!

I'm not sure if you are in Massachusetts or Maryland but, we should definitely keep in touch! While I'm outdoors most weekends, I run two dances a week. One is a Swing Dance in Northampton, MA on Wednesday Nights.
You can read more about me Here!

Congratulations on the Engagement!!!

OK. I am kind of scared to death to have UPPP surgery now. I hate pain!! (OK, who doesn't?) I have recently gone through sleep study. I was rated pretty low for apnea (my Dr. says 5 is low end/average and my highest was 10), but I snore like a freight train and never sleep through the night. My husband (who is on CPAP), says I wake him up over the noise of the machine. Between him nudging me and me waking myself up due to loud snoring, I have not had a decent nights sleep in years. I have the symptoms of apnea, morning headaches, daytime drowziness, irritability, ability to fall asleep at my desk (boss loves that one!), etc. My ENT did the scope down the nose and throat and then sent me to the sleep study. He says that I have a very small opening in the back of my throat for breathing. (This is what my PCP sent me to the ENT for in the first place.) He also says I have a deviated septum. I am scheduled for UPPP and nose surgery on Monday, the 24th. Am I making a mistake??? I don't want to be tied to a CPAP for life to correct snoring, I tried it once for a few nights and thought I was being smothered. I couldn't breathe! I have read everything that I could find about the subject, but can't make up my mind. I have come up with the thought that instead of jello, mashed potatoes, etc., has anyone thought of trying baby food? I must admit that I love most of the fruit flavors. This seems like it might be an alternative to just yougart. Anyway, sorry for the long post but......HELP!!!!!!!

Hey there Jim:

The snoring will happen now and again but as you said it is mostly heavy breathing. Try to notice on the days when there is heavy breathing if you are not over tired. I feel that when I have over done it on occasion I will heavy breath also. And remember that the seasons changing you may be getting a bit of a flu bug. I would say maybe you are over tired.

I can't call you my dear I am on my way to Utica NY today, my surgery is on Tuesday. I have a pre-op on Monday and meeting with a Nutrionist and I will be on may way to a healthier me.

Have a great weekend and hope I shed some light as to why you are heavy breathing.

take care

Paulette: I am occasionally snoring (2-3 times per week) but not nearly as badly. Described as mostly "heavy breathing." Any suggestions? I just went for my 8 week post-op sleep study and don't have the results until late next week. If you would call me on Sunday, I would like to discuss, 678.427.2142.

Hi guys, very interesting reading all your comments. There isn't much information on tonsillectomies and lose of taste I had my tonsils removed on the 15th of October it is now the 14th of November my ENT specialist said some people do experience a loss of taste,I love food and everything smells great but as soon as I put food in my mouth it is either not sweet enough or not salty enough and when it goes to the back of the throat it has a different unpleasant taste .Food has no flavour anymore.I read a lot of people eat soft food after taking their tonsils out but I discovered that my ENT dr was right, eating hard foods like toast, biscuits ,maize chips and drinking carbonated drinks like coke speeds up the process.Everyone said the pain would be terrible, but I found it not to be so bad.Day 7 to 9 were a little bit difficult but if you take your painkillers regularly you shouldn't have a problem. Each person is different I read Kates info and I had almost the same problems with taste could anyone reply if they had the same problem with taste and how long it takes to get your taste back to normal as I read taste buds do grow back. This is the only useful site I found, thanks to Jason and to everyone who contributed.
